MILWAUKEE MODEL 8977-20, Heat guns with surface temperature control (STC) automatically adjust their heat output to reach the target temperature required at the surface to heat, dry, or soften materials. Their sensor measures the temperature of the work surface rather than the temperature of air leaving the gun. They are commonly used to prevent scorching and overheating of temperature-sensitive materials. Pistol-grip heat guns allow users to squeeze the trigger as they grip the tool.
